Hey there,
I’m Abijit, and travel is my favourite storybook. From the snowy peaks of Switzerland to the buzzing streets of India, I’ve been lucky to wander through cultures, flavours, and hidden gems that make every trip unforgettable.
This blog is my way of sharing those adventures with you — little snapshots of journeys, big and small. I hope they spark your own wanderlust and maybe even inspire your next escape.

Shimla की सुंदरता
(The beauty of Shimla)
Shimla ka SUNDARTA
Nestled in the serene hills of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla is more than just a picturesque escape—it is a town steeped in history, charm, and timeless beauty. Often referred to as the “Queen of Hills,” Shimla owes its name to “Shyamala,” an incarnation of Goddess Kali, whose presence once marked this region with spiritual significance long before it became a colonial retreat.

tHE GREAT DELHI ESCAPE
The real challenge, though, was convincing my mum. The winning line? “Shimla is on the way back.” It isn’t. It really isn’t. I can’t stress enough how much it’s not on the way back.
Driving the Kalka Curves Where the Mountains Finally Opened Up
There’s this light haze that sits over everything, making the hills look almost painted rather than real. Closer down, you can see tall pine trees scattered along the slopes, with houses tucked between them like they’ve been carefully placed wherever space allowed.
Kufri (Part 2): Over 400 Steps Later
My wife, initially optimistic, made it about 150–200 steps before reality kicked in. I could practically hear her lungs saying,
“Please don’t do this to me.” She turned back.
Kufri Part 1: The Views Just Kept Coming
My mum decided it was the perfect time to play old Hindi songs. Now, don’t get me wrong, I respect the classics. But something about being bounced around in the back of a jeep, crouched like I’m in a low-budget movie where they kidnap and you in the back of one of these, while emotional love music plays in the background… it just didn’t quite match the mood I was in.
After Kufri (Part 3): Under Hanuman’s Shadow & The Evening Shimla Glowed
We walked a little further than we had the day before and came across a beautiful viewpoint a small pavilion sitting right at the edge, overlooking layers upon layers of mountains fading into the distance. People sat quietly on benches, some talking, others just staring out, while one man stood at the edge taking it all in.
From Cappuccino Views to Chaos in the Forest
Once my dad managed that, he then had to get the car up a steep incline - easily the toughest one we’d faced. The entire car went silent. We were all holding our breath, staring straight ahead so we didn’t distract him. Meanwhile, two local cars behind us started honking. Pressure = maximum.
And right in that moment of peak tension, my mum goes,
“Should me and Abi get out and push the car?”
Shimla ki Sundarta
I loved every part of it. The people. The nature. The food. The wildlife.

I arrived in Delhi, and two weeks later I was married. Those first weeks went by quickly, but the month that followed was mentally difficult, and being with my wife was the one thing that kept me grounded. I had always wanted to visit Shimla after seeing it in 3 Idiots, but I never expected to end up there on this trip.
I started this blog at the age 22 as a solo traveller, trying to see as much of the world as possible before marriage, partly out of fear that my future wife might not enjoy travelling. Nearly four years later, we’ve travelled together to Ladakh, Agra, Amritsar and Shimla, and I hope there’s much more to come.
Shimla felt different. I’ve seen mountains, snowy destinations, travelled across Turkey and even jumped out of a plane without properly filling out my emergency contact, but nothing felt quite like this.
Weeks later, I still think about the endless layers of mountains fading into the distance, the quiet, the space, and the sense of calm it brought.
It wasn’t my favourite trip—that still belongs to Pag in Croatia—but Shimla wasn’t about being the best.
It was different. It was needed. It was refreshing. It was peace.
