I arrived on time and joined the group by the kayaks. Everyone had a partner except me and two trios. The European gentleman wasn't thrilled about being paired with me, so I asked if any of them spoke a common language. Luckily, they knew a little bit of German. I paired them up, and I ended up partnering with the kayak instructor, HrVoje.
We quickly discovered that we had a similar sense of humor, which made the kayaking experience a whole lot more fun. As everyone else left the beach, it was just the two of us. We had to go last so HrVoje could keep an eye on the people at the back, while the other guide led the way. Initially, I sat in the back, but as soon as HrVoje did, the kayak tipped over, leaving us soaking wet and shocked. However, our first instinct was to burst into laughter like a couple of idiots, and even the other tourists on the beach joined in. We realized that HrVoje was a bit heavier, so we decided to switch seats at the second stop. From then on, the rest of the kayaking trip went smoothly, filled with laughter and unforgettable memories.
Kayaking was a challenging yet fulfilling adventure. The scorching heat made us feel like we were being grilled but being soaked in the water helped cool us down. During our kayak trip, I asked my kayaking partner if he accepted blame for our little mishap, and he admitted it was his fault. This incident marked the beginning of an unusual friendship. At our first stop, I took out my Insta360 camera to capture the moment. HrVoje, jokingly asked if I was one of those Instagram influencers, to which I replied, "No, this is just my Insta360 camera." We spent about ten minutes at the beach, while other kayakers swam with their families. As the tour continued, HrVoje, regretted drinking all his water within twenty minutes. I playfully reminded him that it was because of our kayak tipping incident. We then headed to the next beach, where I had become more skilled at kayaking and started rowing faster. However, HrVoje reminded me to slow down as he needed to keep an eye on the others. During our leisurely pace, I started singing the familiar tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." HrVoje didn't know the rest of the song, but he encouraged me to keep singing. Although I didn't know the rest either, I would occasionally start singing that one lyric again, much to his amusement and confusion. "Sing something else, please?". He urged me to.
We spent a delightful twenty minutes at the second beach, where I found a spot on the rocks and playfully splashed around in the water alongside two Italian couples. While others took swimming breaks, including HrVoje, I couldn't help but be captivated by the mesmerising view. HrVoje jogged over and suggested that we make a different stop to quench our thirst. As he questioned my swimming abilities, I explained that swimming was a hobby back home, but with this scorching heat and view, I couldn't resist just enjoying looking out at the sea. As we made our way to the third beach, we stumbled upon a small stream of fresh water flowing through a rock. It was a perfect opportunity to refill our bottles and seeing HrVoje's smile resurface was reassuring knowing he was not going to faint from a heat stroke. The next hour of kayaking was an absolute blast! We paddled away, singing our hearts out to Bruno Mars, and laughing loudly as we kept an eye on the rest of the group. This part of the tour made me realize just how much I loved being here. The coastal views were mesmerising, the waters crystal clear, and the overall vibe was so peaceful. I couldn't resist capturing the beauty of it all, so I asked if we could make frequent stops for videos. HrVoje agreed, and with the camera in hand, he joked about how we embarked on our quest to find some sort of treasure. He went on and on about it for a few minutes before playfully wishing me a "Happy Birthday."
As we approached the cave, some of the others struggled to position themselves in line with the entrance. HrVoje and I patiently waited for them to go first. Once inside, we realised that the cave was much more spacious than it appeared from the outside. HrVoje took charge of paddling while I used my hands to guide us towards the exit, all while recording the experience. It turned out to be even more exhilarating and fun than I had expected. HrVoje and I continued our youthful antics, singing and cheering on our tired companions. We even had some fun teasing an Italian couple who didn't realise that switching places would make their kayaking easier. During the last ten minutes of the tour, HrVoje and I shared our background stories, discussing our families' origins and religions. I had the opportunity to explain Sikhism and its global presence, including in parts of Africa. It was an intriguing conversation that brought us closer together. Of course, we couldn't resist some playful banter, urging the two German girls to paddle faster with a mix of seriousness and light-heartedness. As we admired the sunset and the majestic mountains, I kept thinking it was our last chance to take it all in. But to my delight, we were treated to several more breath-taking views along the way. Each one was more awe-inspiring than the last, leaving an indelible mark on my memory.
