Embarking on an unforgettable adventure, I had the privilege of scuba diving in the Persian Gulf - an adrenaline-pumping and mesmerizing underwater escapade. I met a couple that had just moved to Dubai permanently and this is how they were about to spend their weekend – Michael and Lilly. Despite my initial scepticism, the experience turned out to be nothing short of extraordinary. Exploring the depths of the ocean, surrounded by vibrant marine life, was a truly awe-inspiring experience.

I got there too early, so I watched two scuba diver teams teach groups of six people how to use the equipment. Sounds interesting but the thought of 12 people drowning in front of me whilst I did nothing crossed my mind a few times. Carrying the scuba diving equipment from the beach to the sea proved to be quite a challenge. However, once immersed in the crystal-clear waters, a whole new world awaited. The instructor, giving special attention to Michael and I, guided us through the initial dips to master the breathing technique and underwater sign language. Earlier on, in cases of emergencies we were told to give our breathing nozzles to one another if needed. I told the driving instructor I just met Michael and Lilly, so I was a little sceptical, but I agreed.

Swimming amidst the vibrant marine life was an absolute delight. The colours of the sea life, illuminated by the sun's rays penetrating the depths, created a mesmerising glistening effect. Amidst my occasional overthinking, the exhilaration of the experience took over. Holding onto our instructor, Michael and I explored the underwater realm. With her impressive skills, Lilly effortlessly showcased her prowess, leaving the instructor unfazed. And then came the moment I had been waiting for - finding Nemo. Amongst the abundance of Dory's and other beautiful fish, I caught glimpses of a fish resembling Nemo. The ever-changing colours of the fish, shimmering and appearing in different hues, added to the enchantment. Imagine the spectacle of these colourful creatures swimming together in groups - it was truly a sight to behold. My ears were in pain the further down we got due to the pressure, but it was expected, and it would not be too long before our time underwater would be up. After a few poses for the GoPro, we headed back up to the surface. Reflecting on the incredible scuba diving experience, I couldn't help but appreciate the memories created. Despite the temporary discomfort, the overall joy and fulfilment from the dive overshadowed any minor inconveniences. It was an unforgettable journey beneath the waves.
